Taking a S-56 Fire Safety Manager practice test gives you a clear advantage over competitors who are taking the same test. The test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions with four options, one of which is the correct answer. The test is conducted on a computer touch screen. The test time is exactly 91 minutes. If you get 70% or above, you pass the test.

1. Applicants for the test must upload one of the following certificates or documents that can verify the required certificate or experience:
A. Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator certificate issued by the Building Authority
B. At least three years of full-time experience within the past six years prior to the application date
This experience comes from working for a government agency, construction, consulting or design company, and also on construction sites where major buildings are being constructed, as well as being responsible for the construction site or construction site safety.
C. At least 8 years of full-time experience within the past 12 years prior to the application date working for a government agency responsible for conducting or supervising fire code or fire safety inspections and enforcement .
D. At least 10 years of full-time experience within the past 15 years prior to the application date as a paid firefighter or fire officer in a fire department.
2. Applicants must submit a valid graduation certificate issued to verify completion of a required training course. Applicants must complete the Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) course, from an FDNY-approved school in New York City.
3. A completed and signed S-56 application form.
